[19 Sept 2013] I’m reporting live from in Manchester, at the launch of the world’s first parametric CAD software – DesignSpark Mechanical by RS Components (UK) and Allied Electronics (US).
They have gathered 4 teams of experts from multiple disciplines for a 48-hours design challenge at Manchester’s Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI). Our team is designing a water filter to be used in emergency and disaster relief, and I am having a fantastic time working with some really talented people from a diverse range of disciplines!
As you may already know, I have always been a strong advocate for the combined use of physical models and CAD in the design process, and today we did an interesting experiment by using the two in conjunction – quite literally – a carbon filter was (encapsulated) in a live 3D print!
